Rebalancing for the week The model is continuing to outperform the S&P 500. Our model did indicate it is time to rebalance the portfolio. By the time you read this we will have liquidated the Industrials ETF (XLI) and purchased the Consumer Staples ETF (XLP) in our portfolio. Consumer Staples (XLP) is generally a defensive play since it invests in companies that produce use products people use nearly everyday regardless of how the economy is doing. Generally, the market is 6 months ahead of the economy and today’s rotation signal seem to reflect the thought that market participants are not only talking a coming recession, but are putting their money where their mouth. We know this because of the price action in the Consumer Staples sector. |
|
As you can see from the image above some sectors can significantly outperform their index. To be successful, market participants not only need proper timing, but they also need to know where the best opportunity exists. |
